We are a “hands-on” learning center. While we introduce colors, shapes, numbers, letters and general academic material, our number one priority is making a child feel successful. We offer many opportunities throughout the day for any child to achieve this goal. For example, arts and crafts activities, circle time, story time, outside play, structured group play, outside programs brought in from the community and various listening activities.

Our philosophy is to provide a non-judgmental Christian environment of acceptance of all people. We incorporate teachings of Jesus within our curriculum; our program also focuses on developing social skills.

We encourage parent participation in the classroom on a regular basis to observe their child interacting in the classroom and to share learning experiences with their child outside the home.

Pouring, washing, arranging – all with an eye to detail – help the young child to establish order, not only physically but also, psychically. Sense of order is the first step in developing skills needed for later classification work in the elementary grades. The importance of these practical life skills cannot be overemphasized.

Willistown Country Day Montessori Schools’ Elementary Program is built on the rich foundation the child has experienced during his 2 to 6 year period. When he was in Pre-school/Kindergarten he wanted to know WHAT; he wanted to know WHERE. He wanted the facts about his environment The first through sixth grade student is different. He has gathered facts in his early “absorbent period.” During his early years he built extensive awareness of the world around him. Now he wants to know HOW AND WHY. He wants to find out how one thing relates to another. He wants to see relationships. This elementary school child has entered a new plane of development and unlike the unconscious absorption he first experienced from birth to six, his second mental growth period is one of a conscious will that leads him to explore intriguing relationships in all disciplines.

We provide care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years of age. We offer 2, 3, 4 and 5-day programs. Transportation is provided by the Twin Valley School District from our center to the Twin Valley Elementary Center.

We use 6 classrooms, two learning center rooms, a large multipurpose area, playground and an office. These areas are part of the Christian Education Area for Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Our program includes circle time, outside or indoor play, learning center time, snack, music and movement, chapel time, crafts, kindergarten readiness activities, cooking, computer.

We offer full-time services offered as well as flexible half day, full day care. We serve infants 3 months through children entering 6th grade.

WGADC is a non-profit center providing affordable, flexible, quality childcare to families in the Southern Chester County area. We recognize that each child is an individual and that children are creative and feel a need to succeed. We respect the individual needs of children, foster a caring and creative environment and emphasize the social, emotional, physical and intellectual development of each child.

Learning through hands-on exploration occurs in discovery centers, including creative art, math and science, blocks/construction, dramatic play, manipulatives, computers, library and listening area, and sand/water play. Weekly programs outside of the Center environment include Music Education and Physical Education. These programs are supervised by a faculty member and implemented by the students registered in the University courses.

Campus resources incorporated into the curriculum are the University library, swimming pool, playing fields, gymnasium, video theater and cafeteria. Field trips off-campus are provided for children ages four years and up.

The Center’s philosophy is to provide a warm and nurturing environment that promotes the individual development of each child in the areas of social, emotional, physical and cognitive growth. Self-esteem is viewed as a fundamental goal and is encouraged through positive reinforcement, decision making and self help opportunities. Caring teachers provide a setting allowing for experimentation, diverse experiences for learning, and opportunities for spontaneous play. The Center recognizes that children learn as they investigate, explore and experiment with their environment.

We offer a variety of fun-filled classes for your two-, three- or four-year-old, plus an aftercare program for kindergarteners. Your child can flexibly participate in our additional programs (Early Care, Late Care, Lunch, Playtime, and Enrichment) as often as you wish.

Because a cooperative program creates a learning environment for all those involved, many advantages are offered to children, parents and teachers. For the children, the opportunity to know different people — other children their own age with whom they can identify, parents other than their own, and teachers who guide them in supervised play and learning experiences. For the parents, a new appreciation of their own child as a separate person. Parents gain insight into their tasks as parents, and with the teacher become co-workers in the educational task of supporting the child in developing his/her own talents and in gaining self-confidence. For the teachers, a broadened professional insight by working closely with parents as well as the children, and greater skill in leadership through group techniques that invite teamwork and leadership from others.

Our Christian Education program provides each child with these age-appropriate skills: to make sound decisions, to create and strengthen family and community ties, to establish moral and ethical beliefs, to strengthen motor development, to develop self discipline and self control and to understand God from a healthy, Christian perspective. The child’s home, church and school experiences are all vital and important in providing a foundation for life.
