Description

Jordan Bank is a kindergarten center comprised of all the kindergarten students in the Oxford Area School District. We also house two Head Start classrooms and two Early Intervention Special Education classrooms. There are currently 11 sections of kindergarten that provide a full-day program and 1 section that provides a half-day program. All kindergarten students are screened at registration or at the beginning of the school year using the Speed DIAL assessment. For the 2009-2010 school year, class size ranges from 22 to 24 students.

The school provides a nurturing, caring and safe place to learn at each child’s developmental level. Reading instruction is provided through a balanced literacy approach that focuses on developing independent reading skill, phonemic awareness, phonics, reading strategies, sight vocabulary and writing skills.
